About Bags or Bulk
A small set of material calculators that finish the sum instead of stopping at a volume.
Why this exists
Standing in a garden centre with a phone, doing arithmetic on cubic feet, is a worse experience than it needs to be. The existing calculators mostly hand back a volume in cubic yards and leave the rest to you — the bag count, the weight, whether your car can take it, whether a delivery would have been cheaper.
This site does those last steps. Every answer comes back as a number of things you can buy, and every calculator lets you check bagged against bulk using the prices at your own local yard.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, no server doing the sums, and no database. Prices you enter to compare bagged against bulk are used for that comparison and then forgotten when you close the tab.
The site is a set of static files. That is why it loads immediately, works on a weak signal in a car park, and does not ask you to accept anything before it shows you a calculator.
Corrections welcome
The physical constants behind the calculators are set out on the methodology page. If a figure looks wrong against what your supplier quotes, we would rather hear about it than not — the contact page is the place.
